Established in 1987, Katihar Medical College aimed at providing medical education to the students who don’t have enough facilities and infrastructure in the region of Kosi and especially 2 divisions- Purnia and Saharsa. The college was established and funded by the Al-Karim Education Trust, Patna. Dr Ahmad Ashfaque Karim is a social worker and politician who is the founder and owner of Al-Karim Education Trust, Patna. The College is recognized by the Medical Council of India with a permissible student intake capacity of 150 seats in MBBS course.
The current leadership of the college is focused to provide the best of its kind infrastructure and quality of education.
Overview
The campus area is well flourished and spread over an area of over 55 acres with all the required amenities and resources needed to fulfill students requirements in every aspect. Equipped with a 600 Bed Hospital with Modern Operation theaters, and OPD handling a high footfall of patients on a daily basis. The academic facility provides an excellent teacher student ratio which is 1:2.
